I think Carolyn Watkinson's "When I am Laid in Earth" is perhaps the most passionate and heartfelt rendition ever. When I hear her, I don't picture a contemporary singer in an opera, I am in the period in which it was written, eavesdropping from a distant column. Her dynamic contrast and intense melodramaticism is simply awe-inspiring!!!

I think Carolyn Watkinson had been a rare meteor in baroque music i still regret.
