Sigsworth and Heap had first worked together to assemble "Getting Scared" on iMEGAPHONE, a 1998 release by Heap. Over time, Sigsworth collected more ideas for future collaboration, and the two first moved forward with Frou Frou when the worked on the Details track "Flicks".
The name "Frou Frou" comes from a Baudelaire poem, and is a French approximation of the swishing noise made by skirts on dancing women.
Both artists have collaborated with many other musicians over the years. Sigsworth had notably worked with Madonna on "What It Feels Like for a Girl". Heap and Sigsworth reportedly both have an appreciation for classical music.
In addition to Details, the group contributed "Holding out for a Hero" to the Shrek 2 soundtrack. "Must Be Dreaming" and "Breathe In" from Details have had music videos released, and "Let Go" was additionally released on the Garden State soundtrack.
