Groove Armada
Groove Armada is a house music group from Cambridge, England. Composed of two members, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. Their most famous work is their 2000 international hit "I See You Baby", remixed by
Fatboy Slim in the Big Beat style, with the infamous repeated chorus line "Shakin' that ass", as heard in Renault Mégane advertisements. However they have produced music at a higher quality than this, however less mainstream. In 2001, Groove Armada released the single, "My Friend", which sampled the 1995
Brandy hit "Best Friend".
- Groove Armada's debut album is Northern Star released in 1998, along with the very popular At The River, sampling Old Cape Cod by Patti Page, which has been found on numerous chill out compilations. However it was not included in this album.
- In 1999 Groove armada produced Vertigo, with more mainstream and more 'polished' sound. Selling copies worldwide.
- In 2001 Goodbye Country, Hello Nightclub was released, with the title suggesting that their new album is more upbeat and less chill out. This is proved by their single Superstylin' .
- Less than a year later Groove Armada produced Lovebox in 2002, which included a variety of genres, and was quite different from Groove Armada's House background. Some tracks had a rock element to them such as Madder. However Groove Armada also produced their best house music yet with the title track Lovebox, and Remember, vocals made up entirely of samples of Sandy Denny's singing at Fairport.
- In 2004 Groove Armada released a Best Of album, including their hits, and new productions. Symbolising Groove Armada's end and the need to move on to other musical projects. In 2001 Andy Cato collaborated with Rachel Foster, to produce Persuit Of Happiness under the name Weekend Players.
