Chris de Burgh (1948) is a musician and songwriter.Born Christopher John Davison in Buenos Aires, Argentina to British parents, his father's career moved the family to numerous places around the globe such as Malta, Nigeria, and Zaire. At the age of 12, the family returned home to live in Tomhaggard in County Wexford, Ireland, where his father bought the 12th century "Bargy Castle" and converted it to a hotel.

A graduate of Trinity College in Dublin, as a performer, he adopted the his mothers maiden name as his stage name. The de Burgh family can trace their roots to King Richard the Lionheart whose name is mentioned Shakespeare's Richard II. De Burgh is most famous for his single "The Lady In Red" from the album Into the Light. For that album, released in 1986, he included the song Rosanna he had written to celebrate the 1984 birth of his daughter. Rosanna Davison won the Miss World title in 2003.

His other notable songs include "A Spaceman Came Travelling," "Don't Pay The Ferryman," "Missing You," "Borderline," "Say Goodbye To It All," and "The Snows of New York." His songs have appeared in films as diverse as Arthur II and American Psycho, and he has sold more than 45 million albums internationally.
