Drowning Pool was a hard rock/nu metal band from Dallas, Texas that rose to prominence while playing along with Ozzy Osbourne during "Ozzfest". Their 2001 debut album, Sinner, was certified platinum within six weeks and the video for its first single "Bodies" was frequently aired. In August 2002 the lead singer of the band, Dave Williams, died in his trailer before a show and the band broke up soon afterwards.

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications sent out of a list of 150 songs that were recommended to be pulled from airplay. Drowning Pool's "Bodies" was on the list.

Finally in 2003, the band found a new singer Jason 'Gong' Jones who took place for Dave Williams and the new singer was first appeared in the new album Desensitized, released in 2004.
