Melissa Auf der Maur (literally "on the wall", born March 17, 1972) is a Canadian-born musician, currently based in New York City.

Previously with Hole, she joined the Smashing Pumpkins in 1999, acting as the group's bassist after the departure of D'Arcy Wretzky until it disbanded in December 2000. She has recently released her self-titled solo album debut (2004).

Hole albums: Pretty On The Inside (1990); Live Through This (1994); Ask For It (1995); My Body, the Hand Grenade (1997); and Celebrity Skin (1998).

Collaborated with the French group Indochine on the song Le grand secret, jointly singing vocals and appearing in the video with Nicola Sirkis.

Her father was the locally-famous Montreal journalist and politician Nick Auf der Maur.
