Josh Turner

Fact Sheet

Musical genre:Christian
It took only two songs. After hearing Josh Turner sing two songs, MCA Nashville signed the South Carolina native in November of 2001. A month later, Josh found himself standing on a stage that has played host over the years to legends such as Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline ... the Grand Ole Opry. Josh performed a song he'd written while still a student at Belmont University, "Long Black Train." With a gospel feel to it, the song was inspired by listening to the complete Hank Williams box set. The song and the album have seen unparalleled successes, becoming the second best selling Country single for five consecutive weeks, and the album being certified Gold with sales of over 500,000 copies in just 12 weeks.
