Tad were a musical group considered part of the grunge music movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Founded in Seattle, Washington in 1987, their sound was toward the heavier end of grunge. Though critically regarded, they never achieved the superstardom of such label-mates on Sub Pop as Nirvana and Soundgarden. They disbanded in 1997.

The band took its name from 300-pound lead vocalist Thomas Andrew "Tad" Doyle. Their music was laced with drug references, such as the album title of the album 8-Way Santa, a reference to a particular type of blotter acid. The original release of that album was withdrawn when the hippie couple in the yard-sale-obtained photo on the album's cover turned out to have become born-again Christians: they threatened a lawsuit over the use of their picture.
