Eiffel 65
Fact Sheet
| Musical genre: | Club/Dance |
| City | Turin, Italy |
Although the band didn't form officially until the late '90s, they have played music together since 1992. The name "Eiffel" was chosen randomly by a computer software program and the "65" was scribbled onto their name on a demo by mistake; it was actually part of a phone number.
Their biggest hit was 1999's Blue (Da Ba Dee) which, with its catchy melodies, vocoded vocals and an unforgettable chorus, became an overnight success and hit #1 in many countries. The leading radio station in New York City, Z100 catapulted the song into American audiences. The next single, Move Your Body, was also a great success, securing the band's freedom from one-hit wonder status.
Their next album, Contact, was released in 2001 and was only a moderate success, despite various accolades, with the single Lucky (In My Life). In 2003, Eiffel 65 released a self-titled album in Italian.
