He was born in Breda, the Netherlands, where as of 2004 he still resides. Between 1985 and 1993 he was a resident DJ at several clubs in his country. Back then he was producing harcore/Gabber tracks under aliases Da Joker/Dj Limited, but in the mid 90s he started to produce trance. In 1997, he and Arny Bink co-founded Black Hole Recordings. Tiësto is famous for his six hours sets, called www.tiestosolo.com (but this is not a website). Tiësto has been the first DJ ever to be voted DJ Magazine's 'No. 1. in the World' three times in a row. At the 2004 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, Tiësto accompanied the athletes, witnessed by an estimated two to four billion viewers around the world, he became the first DJ to play live at such an event.
Dj Tiesto produced an enormous amount of mixes some of which became very popular. He also released a lot of popular Dj Compilations like "Magik" series, "In Search Of Sunrise" series and Nyana.
