Grace Barnett Wing, better known by one of her married names, Grace Slick (b. 30 October 1939) was the lead singer with the rock groups The Jefferson Airplane and The Jefferson Starship in the 1960s through the 1980s.

She was born in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of Ivan W. Wing and his wife Virginia Barnett.

Her only daughter, China Wing Kanter(b. 1971), now a video personality, barely escaped being named "god", and was fathered by Paul Kanter, a Jefferson Airplane guitarist.

Grace married Gerald "Gerry" Slick, a cinematographer, and Skip Johnson, a Jefferson Starship lighting designer.

Grace Slick who left the Starship in 1988, is now retired and enjoys painting, is an advocate for animal rights, and also still enjoys working on music.

Grace Slick was very famous for her controversial lyrics, drug use, and public persona. She once planned to lace Nixon's tea with LSD, but was thwarted by Secret Service agents. Some of her solo albums are Manhole, Dreams, and Welcome to the Wrecking Ball. Some of the more memorable songs she recorded were "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love".
