Mobb Deep, also known as The Infamous Mobb Deep, is a hip hop duo made up of Havoc and Prodigy. Havoc is from Queensbridge, New York; Located in Long Island City. Prodigy is originally from the borough of Brooklyn, though he claims Queensbridge in many of their songs. The group was founded in 1992; apparently Havoc had aimed to rob his future partner, but they became friends instead and started making music.

Recording History

Havoc has been known to produce most of the group's material, and the both of them share vocal duties. In 1999, on Murda Muzik, they began collaborating heavily with West Coast producer The Alchemist, protege of Cypress Hill producer DJ Muggs.

The duo released their first album, Juvenile Hell, to little acclaim. They had their first hit in 1995 with their sophomore album The Infamous, with the hit Shook Ones, pt. 2. This and their following album, Hell on Earth, are commonly held to be their two best; the latter was powered by the 2Pac diss track Drop a Gem On 'Em.

After a slew of relatively badly-received albums, the duo signed with G-Unit Records. They now plan to release an album entitled Blood Money in 2006.
