Godsmack is a heavy metal band. The name "Godsmack" comes from an Alice in Chains song.

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications sent out of a list of 150 songs that were recommended to be pulled from airplay. Godsmack's "Bad Religion" was on the list.

In 2002, Godsmack received a Grammy nomination in "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" for the song "Vampires" from the album Awake.
