The Shirelles
The Shirelles were an influential girl group in the early 1960s. The band formed in New Jersey, and went on to release a series of hits including "Baby It's You", "Soldier Boy", "Dedicated to the One I Love", "Mama Said" and "Boys". Their "Sha La La" became an international hit when covered by
Manfred Mann. In spite of a lack of hits after the mid 1960s, the Shirelles continued recording for a small but devoted audience well into the 1970s. They were eventually inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
