Huey Lewis, whose real name is Hugh Cregg III, (born 1950) is a musician and singer. He did lead vocals and played harmonica for his band Huey Lewis and The News, a popular rock group during the 1980s that was based in San Francisco, California. He also played with the band Clover in the early 1970s.

The band's third LP, "Sports," was one of the best-selling pop releases of the 1980s. It was followed up by another big seller, "Fore." In 1985, Lewis had a cameo role in the popular film "Back to the Future," and he had two songs on the soundtrack, including the hit "Power of Love."

His mother, Magda Cregg, was the partner of the poet Lew Welch.
