Don't get me wrong. Mr. Kersh seems to be a nice man. At the time of his debut anyone pretty in a stetson hat could be marketed. That is still true today (2008)though hat acts are out of vogue, but the pretty boy look still sells because its the young girls out there who they're marketed to. And if marketed properly, it sells. The guy has talent...no doubt. But the choice of songs with the exception of one or two (Goodnight Sweetheart) is for the country rockabilly rock crowd. If that is your taste, more power to you. I like songs with depth and feeling. And Kersh could have delivered the goods if he had not been controlled by the record company.

And here's another problem. He sounds like a young George Strait. Both come out of Texas and have the exact same phrasing. The thing is we have ONE George Strait who has become a legend. David Kersh was given no opportunity to develop his own style or sense of self. He was a George Strait clone like so many artists of that era.

This guy could have become big but became quickly disillusioned and wisely decided to quit the music business because it is cut-throat. It is too bad because there was so much potential here that was left unfulfilled.

I never saw him in concert but from the reviews I read his concerts were just geared strictly for the females in the crowd who will listen to anything as long as the guy looks good and shakes his booty well. But the public is fickle because its an entirely new generation out there.

This new generation doesn't appreciate good country roots and the classic performers who epitomized country music. It isn't country anymore. And sadly, David Kersh got caught in the shuffle, realized it and left Nashville with a disillusioned heart, strained vocal chords and shattered dreams. March 28, 2008
