Good performance when Meat is actually singing the songs. But I don't think it improves the songs to have so much dialogue, and the various extended musical interludes just seem pointless to me because they are not musically interesting. I'm tossing this CD, and I'll stick to the studio albums. January 19, 2008

I had the pleasure of seeing Meat on the "Bat Out Of Hell II" tour. I was lucky enough to be sitting front row center & I still have his pick. Anyway, even though these recordings range from '77 - '96, this is a PERFECT recreation of that tour.(I even have trouble distinguishing earlier recordings from later, & to the earlier reviewer, we thought "Paradise" would have been last also, but this is the order in which the songs were played) In fact, I remember Meatloaf saying, "You know what, this is such a good crowd, Let's do 2 out of 3." Someone in the band said, "But", and he said, "Yeah I know we weren't planning to play it, but let's do it." This "collection" has it placed in the EXACT SPOT that he did it that night in U.N.O.! The bottom line is this: If you don't like live versions, stick with the "Bat Out Of Hell" trilogy. BUT, if you wonder how Meat sounded on that tour, or if you were there and want to relive it, GET THIS! It's an excellent representation which comes as close as it gets! August 28, 2007

Though he's been chided by the press as being bombastic and over the top, Meat Loaf is still one of the most energetic and talented perfomers in the music world. His album "Bat Out Of Hell" is widely regarded as one of the finest rock albums ever recorded, and he still remains a top selling live act.

"Live Around The World" is a 2 cd compilation of Meat Loaf in conccert from 1977 to 1976, and while having such a vast range of time between shows can often throw of the continuity aspect, it's still a great, great collection of Meat Loaf in concert.

All of The Meat's biggest hits are here, including "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)", "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)", a sizzling rendition of his signature hit "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" (Patti Russo is no Ellen Foley, but she makes a fine replacement on this as well as for Cher on "Dead Ringer For Love"), "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" and "Bat Out Of Hell". In fact, he does all of the songs from the "Bat Out Of Hell" album, and also dusts off some lesser known gems. One espeically great treat is "Hot Patootie (Whatever Happened To Saturday Night)", which he performed when he played Eddie in the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

The sound quality is great, and the pacakging is overall the good, though the liner notes are sorely lacking. Overall, this is a great addition to your collection. January 8, 2007

Ill make it short......The selection of songs and musicianship is great. but Meat Loaf's voice is just ridiculous, almost comical. he sings like a bad opera singer and has entirely too much falsetto in his voice. Songs like bat Out Of hell are nearly ruined by his overly falsetic voice.

Music = Good
Meat Loaf = Bad October 5, 2006
