Like many Hans Zimmer soundtracks, this one is all Zimmer. It has that Zimmer feel, and as such it is interchangeable with the rest. Heard Gladiator? Well, you've heard this too, at least in part. And the other part? Well, the best parts of this score, in my opinion, are those that seem to borrow very very heavily from the hymn "For Those in Peril on th Sea" which is the hymn of the US Naval Academy and often played at sailors memorial services.

So. Lacking in originality in so many ways, but well executed and pleasant to listen to. But not the best way to spend your money. October 7, 2008

This is actually the first soundtrack that triggered my love for soundtracks. It introduced me to Hans Zimmer, my favorite music composer of all time. It all started with Crimson Tide. While I don't recall ever understanding the movie at the time, (gimme a break; I was much younger!) I remember that music and how much it stood out for me. It was an adventure all its own and yet, at the same time, truly brought to life the movie itself. Crimson Tide, in my opinion, wouldn't have been as enjoyable if it wasn't for the tremendous and awesome efforts of Hans Zimmer's brilliant composure of such a hard-working orchestra/band. "Roll Tide" is particularly catchy as it gradually builds up to an almost victorious and thunderous sound, impossible to not get yourself amped up when you hear it. But that main theme, which has its alternate versions sprinkled throughout the tracks, is what made my love of movie scores possible. I am forever hooked. September 6, 2007

Ok, so I've been collecting Zimmer and countless other classical-film score composers since I was 8. This is definately one of Zimmer's defining momtents as a composer. The themes and orchestrations presented here are just mind blowing, and totally great.

Buy if you are a fan of Zimmer, or muscular score music. December 15, 2006
