Considering the fact that John Travolta had 3 top 40 hits in the late 70's including, Let Her In (top 10 hit), Whenever I'm Away From You and All Strung Out On You as a soloist, it would be fare to assume that out of almost 30 types of collections, Best Of and Greatest Hits, that there would be at least one solid collection!! Grease was very popular in the late 70's as well and produced his 2 biggest hits as a duet with Olivia Newton-John. You're The One That I Want and Summer Nights are not on any of his collections. I'm glad that some at least attempted by putting Sandy an Greased Lightning on a few of them. Another jem missing is probably his best, Take A Chance (duet with Olivia Newton-John) from Two Of A Kind.

This collection has some nice pic's and CD info in it as well as some of his hits and misses from his 2 solo LP's.
They could have at least added the Grease Megamix as a bonus!

As most people know, John Travolta was one of the biggest stars of the 1970s in the entertainment business whether it was acting or singing! Honestly, he is a much better actor, but that is not to slight his singing, though! He was just age 22 or 23 when listening to these 12 songs on this collection. His biggest SOLO hit, "Let Her In" is a typical 1976 ballad song which went #10 in the Billboard charts. His other Top 40 hits in this collection is "Whenever I'm Away From You" (#38) and "All Strung Out On You" (#34).

The packaging is superb: exhaustive liner notes with pictures including memorabilia of a lunch box and a watch! The notes explain how he signed with Midland International records and how he was a TV star in commercials before he went on to star "Welcome Back Kotter".

Here is the biggest problem with this collection and it's obvious: licensing rights! His biggest hits and maybe best songs were his duets with Olivia Newton-John such as "Summer Nights", "You're The One That I Want" (both from the classic movie "Grease") and "Take A Chance" (from "Two Of A Kind"). If K-Tel had the right to include these songs I would have given it five stars instead of four!

However, I still recommend this collection just to remember the days when he was a "sweatdog" and anyone who enjoys the 1970s in music! April 17, 2005

Okay, so what teeny bopper star hasn't made at least one record? Unlike...Joey Lawrence and others attempts at singing, at least John went on to be John Travolta. So who cares? The songs are light, fun, and neato. Anyone who buys it in the hopes of high quality listening enjoyment and then is bitter, gets what they deserve. August 26, 1999

Trust me this isn't the John Travolta film and TV actor I used to remember don't listen this kind of music it sounds terrible. Just like other CD albums he did from the late seventies! August 10, 1999
