About Audio Adrenaline - Bloom
Who said Christian bands can't rock & roll? One of the best releases in the late '90s, if not the decade, Audio Adrenaline's Bloom is laced with hard-driving grooves and riveting guitar licks. The opening "Secret," "I'm Not the King," and "Memoir" prove the former, while "Never Gonna Be as Big as Jesus," "Good People," and "Walk on Water" demonstrate the latter. And through it all, the band reminds us that they know a good melody when they hear one. The powerful presence of singer Mark Stuart is apparent throughout as he showcases his classic FM-radio rock voice, now an Audio Adrenaline signature. You'll also love the cover of Edgar Winter's "Free Ride," which never sounded so fresh. --Michael Lyttle Amazon.com

Christians and non-Christians alike will love this cd.....don't know what to say except that this is awesome music. I will definitely check out more of Audio Adrenaline.
January 7, 2008"Bloom" is a quantum leap forward for AA. After two spotty albums the band had built a following; but this thrust them forward into the spotlight, and deservedly so. "Never Gonna Be As Big As Jesus" and "Walk On Water" are among my favorite Christian rock songs, and several other quality songs show the growth and maturity of the band - notably "Good People", "I'm Not The King" and "Man Of God". The biggest shortcoming of AA is when they try innovative covers of classic rock songs, and their cover of Edgar Winter's "Free Ride" is a confusing loopy ride; but the innovation is what makes AA who they are, and I wouldn't change them for anything.
October 20, 2006I am a huge rock music fan. I picked up this disc when it first came out in '96. I was drawn in because the band re-made the classic "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter. I thought that 70's influenced Christian music might be worth a try. Unfortunately, they did a terrible job of it; not only that, but the rest of the CD isn't much better. The production is absolutely painful to listen to and some of the lyrics are embarrassingly shallow. I know that the large majority of reviews for this CD are positive, but I really think that this is an awful CD. I don't want to come across as being against Christian music, I am just against bad music in general. If you are a fan of rock music, and you are looking for something from the mid-90's by Christian artists, you might want to try Third Day's self-titled debut, DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" or Rebecca St. James' "God."

I saw Audio Adrenaline performed live while I was in college. "Bloom" is probably one of the most essential albums in Christian Rock. The best track on this CD is an Edgar Winter cover called "Free Ride." Perhaps the weakest track is "Jazz Odyssey." Highly recommended.
