| A Diary That You Want To Read (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars) |
Lyrically, Scarface is on top of his game. One of his most recognizable singles would be "I've Seen A Man Die" is classic material. The previous track "G's" is a great track as well. Other notable tracks that are worth mentioning are "Hand Of A Dead Body" which features a verse from Ice Cube, and Devin The Dude doing the hook. "Mind Playin' Tricks '94" is just as good as the one that came out in '91. Only track I didn't like was "One". Just wasn't feeling that one in my opinion.
Production here is great too. Here is dark sounding, which follows the concept of the album. Most of the beats on here are provided by N.O. Joe and Mike Dean. So you know how the production is going to sound here.
The Diary is a very consistant album, and probably the most consistant from the Rap-A-Lot label. It's a short listen. Fans of mid 90's rap know there should be no question of it being in their collection. Although 'Face will have a pretty consistant career, and remains relevant today, his solo work is most remembered for this album here. Peace.
