| | Totaly Different look at Albert | |
This is one of Albert Kings most unusual realeases. Gone is the pollished aspect of his sound, and in it's place is a much rawer and just plain funkier sound that makes this cd my favorite. Like most of the great bluesman, his guitar remains (and always would) the same. If you are tired of Alberts sound being to polished, than this is the perfect antidote. Probably his best songs are his version of the Stones "Honky Tonk Woman", his "Bay Area Blues" and the soul tune "Like a Road Leading Home".
July 12, 2004 | | One of Albert's very best! | |
I bought this album when it was first released and it remains one of my favorites! Albert at his best! The best word I can use to describe it is even! As well balanced an album as Albert ever put out! You can't go wrong with this one!
May 6, 2004Robert was right! A classic blues cd/classic Albert. His usual outstanding guitar licks, and muscular vocals. But there's more. If there has been a flaw in King's body of work, it may be that some of the cuts on occasion "run together". This release has extra energy, a delicious flow, and each selection stands on it's own merits as Albert runs the gamut of emotions. Evocative, sweet, powerful, and...catchy? From first to last a buffet of very tasty blues.(Remember when you used to have a limited budget and you scoped out the albums where every/almost every tune was a fave? Bingo!
November 21, 2000This for me is the definitive Albert KIng album. It showcases everything that is Albert King. His smooth seemingly effortless leads, and one of a kind voice, gives me chills when I listen to this album. There are other great albums by Albert, but when I want to hear Albert, this is what I play. Listen to it through headphones to get the full unadulterated effect. The hottest track on this album, (in my opinion) is Bay Area Blues, it well, you'll have to listen for yourself. I can't express in words what kind of experience listening to that song does to me. Buy it!!
