These two albums bring back memories of blues light parties and those after school dances. This is Curtis at his best, after Jerry Butler left;the songs make you think back to those days of no worries and the fun that you had. My favorite song is, "Long, Long winter".

A couple of 1964/65 albums from Curtis Mayfield and company, the trio was at their peak form. "I've Been Trying" is beautiful, the WOO-HOO-00-0 at the end will send chills up the spine (it's also a twin brother of Billy Stewart's "I Do Love You"). They get bluesy for "Sometimes I wonder" and continue the high standards for "Don't Let It Hide." Overall, great stuff.

what can i say about this disc? How 'bout this: if the only cuts here were the ones we've all heard before, ie People Get Ready, Keep on Pushing, Amen, I've Been Trying, et al, it would, of course, be a must have. But, just for a moment, forget about those classics, and realize you're getting stuff here you are probably going to be hearing for the first time. And let me say, you'll be in heaven...Long Long Winter, I Thank Heaven, I've Found That I've Lost, Hard to Believe, and See the Real Me. If only there were someone around these days who could make music one one-hundredth this enjoyable.
