This Album never claimed to be Punk. Especailly that crap punk from the 70s and 80s. It never claimed to be the Sex pistols or the ramones (and if you like them, kill yourself because that bland horrific fecal matter excrement is not music). It never claimed to be Britney Spears! It never claimed to be anything, other than what the muscians intended. Music THEY liked. Their Ska/Punk influences and tastes definately show here, as people most oftenly misenterpret this venture to BE a Punk album. It is not, it is pop/rock. Sure, the guitars may sound Punk at times as well the drums, but the heart here is either Party, or Post-Teen Angst. Mad about Landlords? Try whining about that young skinny unemployed sex pistols living on the street.

Anyway, it bothers that people dont understand music. I do, which is why Im allowed to hate certain kinds. haha.

If you love Smash Mouth's newest Albums like Summer Girl and Get The Picture, you may not like this Album. It's incredibly different. It's like Sugar Ray's PURSUIT OF LEISURE compared to LEMONADE AND BROWNIES. Its a completely different band, with the same soul heart and mind.

Pick Up This Album. July 12, 2008

Before the popular song was on the radio I got this cd and went and watched them and sugar ray before they were anything, if smash mouth kept being a punk band they would rock they sold out hard core but this album minus walking on the sun realy does rock June 30, 2006

This Cd, when it was first released, was carried entirely by "Walkin' on the Sun" which doomed Smash Mouth to forever sing songs the same way, thinking that it would help their image. That's rather unfortunate because the other songs on this CD such as "Heave-Ho", "Padrino", and my personal favorite "Nervous in the Alley" have an entirely different sound and feel. This CD deserves a second glance so instead of just scoffing at it because it's smash mouth, listen to the samples. This is the only CD from Smash Mouth with and Explicit Lyrics sticker, because after this they went soft. This is good music, check it out. May 18, 2006

There are only two good songs on this C.D.! Don't get it, it is a waste of money. November 16, 2005

The tracks on this album, except for maybe "Let's Rock", which is just a Tenacious D-like filler, are all great.
Walkin' On the Sun is the most popular, but is personally my least favourite; It's a good song, but is more pop-y and shows less tallent then any other song on the album.
The music style is a mixture of ska and rock, but most old time punk fans will like most of the songs on the album a lot.
I give this album 5 stars for a reason. It's the stepping stones of what could have been a great band.

Smash Mouth did not evolve when Astro Lounge was released. They de-volved. Astro lounge was pop, and nothing but it. Smash Mouth was in awe of the popularity of Walkin' On The Sun and sold out in the blink of an eye.
Shame on Smash Mouth.

Buy this album, and don't buy any other ones by Smash Mouth. Pretend this is their only one; You'll only be dissapointed otherwise.

(Music-wise, this album gets an 8.5/10 in my book. Some of the chord progressions in Padrino and Disconnect the Dots are pure genius) November 12, 2005
