When i first heard The Perfect Drug, I was blown away, it's an amazing song, so I of course snapped up The Lost Highway soundtrack and then this CD when it was released. To my complete surprise, The Perfect Drug was not on the disc! In it's place were 5 unrecognizable remixes. Sub-par at best, this release was a great disappointment, and while the remixes were not all bad, they did completely wreck an otherwise beautiful song, and that is unforgiveable. So needless to say, this CD single is best avoided unless you a fan of the remixers or a NIN completist. April 22, 2008

good, but flawed

the mixes on this cd are great. its not the typical nin remix cd that most are familiar with.
the song the perfect drug is remixed here by 4 electronica/techno groups plus nin.
all the mixes are great, and its definitely an album you can play over and over.
but i REALLY wish they wouldve included the original version on it.
i bought this cd without having heard the original [which i now own thanks to itunes] and i was pretty happy with it.
this is a good cd for halo collectors, and fans of electronic music, etc...

the art was also interesting.
very active and wild on the front and calm and subtle inside.
i was pleasantly surprised when i opened it up.
this is a minor detail to most people, but album art is half the reason why i still buy cds. January 13, 2008

What happened to the original version????????

I loved the original version from "The Lost Highway". I only found out that I had to buy that soundtrack to find the original version not featured on this overwritten piece. To make a long story short, buy "The Lost Highway" soundtrack. September 23, 2007

A Top-Ten Electornic Album

(Background: I am a NIN fan, he's perhaps second only to Simon Posford on my list. Further, I'm an electronica fan. I love the stuff. I WRITE the stuff. Lastly, I NEVER HEARD the original song, don't own the soundtrack, and don't care to.)

This is absolutely one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Perhaps if you're an NIN fan for the lyrics (?!?) or the "heavy metal" aspects, then you would not like this album. There's barely 60 seconds of vocals on this disk, and they're all just repeating the same three lines, where they do show up.

No, no... this is an *electronic* album. Beeps, bells, pads, overdrive, and often drowning in effects.

And a *blissful* electronic album this is. One of the best discs of all time, in its arena.

NIN's version of the song on this is is an amazing, hectic mix that just seems to crescendo and not come down for many minutes... you can almost get tired just listening to it. I put it in the top-five songs NIN's ever done, if you're into the heavier stuff. It's a solid wall of sound.

The other tracks on this disc range from just really bizarre to quite catchy... Space Time Continuum's version is probably the best track they've ever done! :)

This is NOT an album for everyone. It's very heavy, very dark, and very digital. ...So I don't often recommend this album. But when I do, the response is almost always "Holy @#$*, I can't believe I haven't heard this before!" I've never played this album for someone without having them go out and immediately buy it. :)

This is a true gem.

Nothing like the song we all love

This Album is 5 remixes that sound nothing like the song, I don't actually know why I bought this. If you love remixes that sound nothing like the original thing, buy this cd, you might like this. June 2, 2007
