Hmmm, I knew my boyfriend was looking for this hard-to-find CD and with great stealth, timing and your site....I found it, got it delivered quick and knocked his socks off when I handed it to him....his face just lit up and w/o any words, I knew I had just entered another dimension w/ him. Hey, what got me working fast to getting this CD is that 'All I Need' song~he played it for me and I was hooked. Method Man...you have once again worked in mysterious and magical ways...ummmph, I look forward to hearing it played in the background and kissing and luving on my own method man;)
January 8, 2008Method Man's Tical. Arguably one of the finest solo releases from the Wu-Tang. Even though its hard to pick a favorite because they were all so good. I've enjoyed all the releases from the members of the Wu-Tang and while Meth is not the most lyrical member of the group, for some reason Tical is the album I listened to the most of all the solo releases. I think its the dark, grimey beats of the album. It's a very dark piece of work and its strangely very comforting to hear. It has a very calming and hypnotic effect on the listener and Method Man's lyrics and vocals enhance Rza's dark, grimey beats perfectly. I can't even begin to describe what a dark masterpiece this album is. Hands down, this is Method Man's best album. My favorite songs are the title track, Biscuits, What The Blood Clot, Bring The Pain, Mr. Sandman (love the bees humming in the intro & the beat is haunting and hollow sounding), PLO Style, I Get My Thang In Action and Sub Crazy. The other tracks are hot too and its definitely an album you can listen to without skipping any tracks. Something you will never see now on a hip hop album. I would suggest getting the "All I Need" maxi single to get the Razor Sharp Remix with Mary J. Blige. It also contains the Puff Daddy Remix. There are also two more obscure and hard to find remixes. The Bring The Pain Remix is just as good if not better than the original and the Prodigy Remix of Release Yo' Delf is wonderful. I have both of these on 12-inch vinyl and the All I Need maxi single on cd which can be gotten on Amazon for about 4 or 5 bucks. Bottom line, if you like Method Man or want to hear an excellent piece of work, own this album. I can pretty much guarantee you will not be dissappointed. Peace.
December 28, 2007i couldnt believe the 2 star reviews on this wu banga. definately one of the clans shining moments, try and compare this album to any other of its time...you cant because it is so original and genius, the reason for the low quality of the beats is because the rzas studio was destroyed by a flood so all the masters were ruined, and they redid beats and lyrics in a short period of time to make deadline.great album start to finish. if youre a wu fan that only likes cream and method man and gravel pit, keep ridin dick, but if you youre a real head, recognize the dopeness and originality of this record and appreciate it for what it is...CLASSIC.
November 24, 2007As Wu-Tang Clan members venture off with solo carreers / attempts, Method Man branches out with debut Tical. Well defined in the album cover as dark and gloomy, the entirely produced album by the Rza, added a touch of Method's smoke induced thoughts for a complete project as defined in the album opener and title track. With a deep bass and keys to offset the darkness, "Biscuits" is an enlightning alternative for this genre. "Bring The Pain" is the highlight of the LP, with its uptempo drive and lyrical performance such as "...I'm sick, insane, crazy / Driving Ms. Daisy / out her f****n' mind / now I got mine / I'm swayz..." Displaying sincere feelings on "All I Need" adds a personal touch and more depth. The one verse "What The Blood Clot" and "Sub Crazy" continues the concept of the project with dark keys over a slow tempo track. Symbolizing a boxing bout, "Meth Vs. Chef" featuring Raekwon is a friendly competition between Method Man and Raekwon with each throwing multiple punchlines in their verse. The shot in the dark "Release Yo' Delf" featuring Blue Raspberry picks up the pace with a charging horn section for a heroic fulfilled event as "P.L.O. Style" featuring Carlton Fisk includes a horn section but with dark tones defines his signature flow. "I Get My Thang In Action" is a perfect addition to the selection as being taken into another Wu-Tang chamber as does "Mr. Sandman" featuring Rza, Inspector Deck, Street Thug & Carlton Fisk. Concluding this LP with the remix to fan's introduction to Method on "Method Man (Remix)" isn't as upbeat as its original but is perfect for this album.
