Johnny Mathis possesses a rare talent to use his uniquely wonderful vocal skills to create a masterpiece out of nearly any ballad ever written. This album features a beautiful set of twelve of Johnny's most romantic numbers.
The track set begins with "Heavenly." The title track boasts an excellent arrangement for both the strings and the piano; Johnny celebrates his affection for his one true love and he handles the subtle tempo changes like a pro! "Hello, Young Lovers" starts with a musical flourish from the strings, harp and flute; Johnny's voice never sounded better as he croons this timeless ballad from The King And I. Johnny also delivers "A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening" with panache and sensitivity.

"A Ride On A Rainbow" gets another beautiful arrangement for the strings as Johnny Mathis sings of how wonderful it is to spend time with his one true love; and Johnny delivers "Something I Dreamed Last Night" to perfection.

"Misty" is a highlight of this album; Johnny sings this without a superfluous note and the number has a stunning arrangement for the piano and strings as well. "Stranger In Paradise" gives us a second highlight from this CD; Johnny sings a rarely heard opening verse and when he begins to perform the actual song this number truly takes flight! Johnny also delivers "They Say It's Wonderful" as only he could.

"I'll Be Easy To Find" sports a hauntingly beautiful melody as Johnny Mathis sings passionately of how he wants to fall in love.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and the final track on this CD is "That's All." Johnny performs "That's All" with care and great sensitivity. He truly renders "That's All" a love song all his own using his singularly beautiful interpretation of this classic ballad.

Johnny Mathis continues to perform and entertain countless numbers of people; and we are all better off for it. With any luck, Johnny Mathis will continue to sing as only he can for many, many years to come.

Enjoy!

Without question, one of my top 10 favorite album/cd.Anyone who appreciates great music who hears me playing it just wants more.Flawless, beautiful, dreamy music. The younger set today really don't know what good, real music is.They can keep today's music, most of what i consider trash, this is music for "grown folks" who remember what great music was like.I give it 10 Stars. This was an "album" I listened to more than 40 years ago and it sounds just as good as I remembered it. These are some of Johnny Mathis' greatest dreamy songs and they still sound as romantic as ever. Sound quality is great. November 3, 2006

Forget Johnny Mathis (although he does a good job), the arrangements here by Glenn Osser are incredible. Probably the most beautiful "lush" strings of any era. If you only buy one Mathis CD, this should be the one. August 18, 2004
