Dan Hill is one of the finest Canadian singer/songwriters who is also known by the late 70s love ballad, SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH, similarly styled ballad as CAN'T WE TRY from this album. When this album was released in 1987 time was ripe for accepting for his return. Almost the same time CBS sony made outstanding adult-oriented rock albums such as Eddie Money's CAN'T HOLD BACK, Michael Bolton's HUNGER. Naturally Dan Hill's comeback album just captures this trend nurtured by 80s power ballad hitters' success such as LIONEL RICHIE, JOURNEY, TOTO, SURVIVOR, HEART and STARSHIP.

1987 DAN HILL album stands middle between Eddie Money, and Michael Bolton. Particularly NEVER THOUGHT THAT I COULD LOVE can mirror the Michael Bolton's THAT'S WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT. CAMELIA failed to become hit but is excellently made song that should have promoted more. CAN'T WE TRY duet with VONDA SHEPARD spurred by readily radio promotion became his signature hit. EVERY BOYS FANTASY could have space for Eddie Money album while LOSE CONTROL could have been used for Michael Bolton's HUNGER album both showing his excellent human-touch songwriting skill.

If you love CBS sony's middle of the road rock policy at that era, this album is unmissable.

Verdict: Excellent adult rock album.
