This is a really nice soundtrack, just more great themes from Kamen that really compliment the movie. The first 7 tracks are stifled a little with crazy guitar riffs that become quite loud and annoying in places - but on re-watching the movie they ARE all there. The guitar elements portray the action hero side of Slater in a movie, which does work well on screen.

It's from track 8 that the music becomes really special, as the orchestra ramp out the suspense & action! 10. Premiere is especially my favourite - awesome stuff!

BUT - yet again it's another score that doesn't quite have it *all*. There are some really great parts of music in the film that haven't made it onto the CD, including when Slater is running up the steps to Leo the Fart...maybe it was ripped from Die Hard? ;) Also, the car crash & Die Hard homage doesn't seem to be in the score anywhere :(

Other than that, really nice - really great to finally here Slater's themes loud & clear! October 17, 2007

Michael Kamen's score is mainly orcehstral, with electric guitar as its core instrument, courtesy of guitarist-extraordinaire Buckethead. With this combination, Kamen weaves differing tones of levity, melancholy, and reliable action, and keeps the entirety varied without leaning past the edge of listener contempt. My only regret is that the "Jack the Ripper" track (on either song or score album) isn't the film version, which contained the most intense moments of the score. If you enjoyed John Carpenter's "Ghost of Mars" album, this precursor makes a nice companion piece.
