About Warrant - The Best of Warrant

Warrant is a schizophrenic band, a condition illustrated by this 16-song "hits" collection. The Los Angeles-based lineup's 1989 debut, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, featured such metal-lite delights as "32 Pennies," the title track, the insipid, self-referential trademark hit "Down Boys," the sappy power ballad "Heaven," the lascivious "Cherry Pie," and "Sometimes She Cries," all of which appear on this best-of. But by 1992's Dog Eat Dog, Warrant had gone heavier and grungier, befitting the musical climate of the era. Consequently, the quintet lost fans who perceived the group as bandwagon jumpers; actually, they do a decent job with heavier songs such as "Machine Gun" and "Hole in My Wall." Proving that singer Jani Lane and pals could be tender and memorable without being cheesy are the gutsy, bluesy "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and the beautiful "I Saw Red." Their cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You," on the other hand, almost manages to sap the song's inherent monster groove. While Warrant's move from image-conscious pop-metal to a heavier sound was awkward in execution, fans of either of the band's phases--and those who like both--will dig this diverse disc. --Katherine Turman Amazon.com

This album is all of Warrant's very best tracks. Jani Lane and the boys are simply fantastic. The songs on this album bring you back to the 80s, to when music was good and the videos were great. Heaven is and always will be the best Warrant song and how can you forget Jani's flirty eyes on the video??!! And Cherry Pie, with the unmistakable guitar screechin of CC Deville, as he guested on that track..
The only way to discribe this album is, in the words of Jani himself, "heaven isn't too far away".
Only thing I would love to see, would be for Warrant to release their video hits, wow, it will be worth waiting for. June 8, 2008

Great rockin' CD....I would have liked more Dog Eat Dog material, actually they could have put the whole CD of Dog Eat Dog as a bonus second disc and this would have been the greatest collection release ever by a band from the genre.
You need to check out Fozzy All That Remains Reloaded for that Dog Eat Dog feel...that cd really is what spawned the sound of Daughtry, etc...All That Remains Reloaded (W/Dvd) April 18, 2008

In high school I used to listen to rap music. In college I still love rap, until the day I heard Skidrow's I remember you and Nelson's Love and Affection.Since then I never listen to rap.I've focused my attention to Metallica (black album), all of Megadeth's albums, watched their concert videos over and over again, till I stumbled in this great band - WARRANT.
Since hearing Uncle Tom's cabin, cherry pie and my all time favorite - I saw Red, I bought all of their albums, and I've especially love the heavier songs like Hole in my Wall, Family Picnic, Andy Warhol, Hollywood, FACE, Sum of One and some of their greats like Down Boys, Blind Faith and Heaven. If you like party rock, heavier glam and enjoy listening to power ballads, this band is the greatest and a must have for album collection!
I'll name my soon to be baby, Janie, after Jani Lane, my all time favorite vocalist... December 1, 2007

Upon hearing their beautiful Power Ballad "HEAVEN" on a local radio station, I decided to purchase this CD on Amazon. And guess what, as an 80's metal fanatic, this CD is totally cool! Every track could send shivers to your spine! Warrant proves to be an example of a band that brings life to 80's metal with an exceptional talent on glam and party anthems as well as heart stopping power ballads! This CD is highly recommended for rock n' roll fans! July 16, 2007
