Average user review:| Calm and intimate featuring great lyrics and Sarah's voice |
If you've heard the band's following albums, you'll probably notice a natural evolution, with this record being the less mature of them all. Nevertheless, the Betten brothers made their first album work like a charm, with remarkable lyrics that could easily go into a poetry book and the Sarah Betten's voice being as great as always. Calm and beautifully heart-felt songs like «My Heart» or «Winter» contrast with the light and melodic song that would be perfect played by the fire, «Breakfast». This mix of slow and instrospective songs with funnier and more rocky tunes mark the band's roots and are noticeable in their following albums.
I will rate it 4* since i believed that K's Choice improved from album to album - with each one being better than the previous - and i'll be keeping the top rating for those. April 26, 2004
| Absolutely Fabulous |
Me Happy- A faster, fun song. Love the lyrics. It's all about what you want to say but can't because you have tact. Wonderful.
Breakfast- A slower song about innocence and surprise.
I Wanna Meet the Man- This was my least favourite song on the CD. Some parts were reminiscent of country, which I tend to avoid at all costs. This is the one song on the album I skip.
What the Hell is Love?- A sad song about the little part of us that is nurturing, caring, but always very alone. This song almost makes me cry, it's beautiful but insightful.
I smoke a Lot- This is definately my favourite song on this album. Even though I don't smoke, I totally got it. It's mellow but you can still dance to it. It has a strolling beat in the back which makes it pleasant to listen to, and keeps your feet tapping away.
The Ballad of Lea and Paul- This was an interesting song about appearances and perception. It is upbeat and fun, without being overly happy. I love the duet parts with Sarah and Gert(?) it brings another aspect into the music I don't recall hearing before.
This is definately worth your money, and it has a place of honour on my CD rack. Space out. December 5, 2003
