About Hans Zimmer, Art Garfunkel, Shawn Colvin - As Good As It Gets: Music From The Motion Picture

Hans Zimmer went from helping create the quirky--if prophetic--pop single "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles to the Academy Award-winning score of Disney's The Lion King with nary a curve in the arc of his career. His 1997 score for James Brooks' As Good As It Gets displays the deceptive ease with which Zimmer shifts between comedy and drama, often in the same musical cue. This satisfying package includes excerpts from Zimmer's orchestral score, ballads by Danielle Brisebois, Judith Owens, and Shawn Colvin, and a hilariously dead-pan, deliberately overproduced version of Monty Python's "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" sung with earnest conviction by Art Garfunkel. --Jerry McCulley Amazon.com

Where is Jack singing, "Always look on the Bright Side of Life"? Why was he recorded for all of time on the "Something's Gotta Give" soundtrack, but couldn't be for this one? He needs to cut a full CD. August 13, 2007

I just want to ask. Are you deaf? Almost all people, who wrote reviews of As Good as it Gets looks like people who are devoid of sensibility. It's so beautyfull music. It's small and very abitious score. The film is beautyfull, but Hans' music tells us much more than film. It touches our mind, our soul. This is proof of Zimmer's talent. January 19, 2002

Hans Zimmer, of "Video Killed The Radio Star" fame, has put together an eclectic group of songs from the award winning movie, "As Good As It Gets". From country to meldodic standards to pop and on. This music fits all mood swings. Laughing....with this movie it was a requirement.

I really liked the way the music fit different parts of this quirky but heady movie. When Jack Nicholson is trying to tell Helen Hunt he loves her--he plays Nat King Cole's, "I Love You--For Senteminental Reasons" and had discs prepared with all sorts of music for a drive a threesome takes to Baltimore.

We hear Art Garfunkel's, "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" sung by Jack as he attempts to get his neighbor's dog to eat--it works!!

A good soundtrack from a good movie.

Lately, the movie studios have endeavored to include wonderful collections and samplings of music of all genres and eras. This movie soundtrack had that same quality - but, only during the viewing of the movie itself. I'm glad that I checked the songs which actually made it onto the cd soundtrack on the internet before I purchased another movie soundtrack which would prove to disappoint me and waste a few more of my dollars.
