About Pretty In Pink: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Few filmmakers managed to capture the awkward coming-of-age catastrophes of '80s teens the way John Hughes did, just as few soundtracks encapsulate the sound of an era better than this one does. It's not the best 1986 had to offer, but it's a cohesive whole, transporting the listener to that other time, imagined or otherwise. There's enough variety to ensure that it doesn't become wallpaper, and very little filler. "Left of Center" by Suzanne Vega, with Joe Jackson on piano, is tremendous and transcends generations. Psychedelic Furs frontman Richard Butler has long been bemused about Hughes not taking Molly Ringwald's character's name from the title song, which inspired the film, but everyone was paying too much attention to what Ducky was wearing to notice anyway. --Scott Wilson Amazon.com

I hadn't listened to this in FOREVER until a couple years ago when I came across the cd & bought it.
What good memories! What GREAT songs!! Does it get any better than this?! Talk about taking you back to a time & place!
I LOVE this cd! I guarantee my sister has it now, too. It's probably in her car right now. :)
If you had this on cassette, get it on cd. July 23, 2008

| A 80's classic! |
| Formed the backbone of what I listened to for 10 years |
Essentially, this soundtrack became a sourcebook for me. It was the first "trendy" non main stream commercial pop that I had found. The fact that all of these songs sound like perfect classic 80's pop is a testament to the person who compiled this. This soundtrack doesn't sound revolutionary any more, but this was essentially for me the 80's equivalent of Seth Cohen introducing Ryan Atwood to Death Cab for Cutie.
If you love delicious pop music, if you adore the 80's, if you secretly wish Molly Ringwald still was a huge star, rush out and buy this. You won't be disappointed. February 20, 2008
