One of the two finest singles ever produced by this band. Great b-sides.
October 24, 2004Despite the fact that 10,000 Maniacs have rarely released a bad song, get this single for "Sally Ann", which is one of the most beautiful and haunting songs I've ever heard. Natalie's beautiful voice and Rob's amazing guitar playing are just two reasons why this song is so good. All of the other tracks are great, but "Sally Ann" makes this single worth getting.
January 17, 2002This is packed with three cover tunes that show just what the Maniacs are capable of. In fact, it could be argued that their cover of "Don't Go Back To Rockville" is better than REM's orignal recording. "Sally Ann" is haunting with echoing guitar stylings from Rob Buck and a lovely viola part from Mary Ramsey. She also plays a fine violin on Morrisey's "Everyday is Like Sunday," which again, gives the original version a run for it's money. These songs are as good as any on "Our Time In Eden." Don't miss this little sonic treat!

I bought this CD because of the very rare Morrissey cover -- which is outstanding- and I found it spinning and sinning on my CD player. This CD is a solid collection of covers and all have the special Merchant/Maniacs seal, wiothout relinquishing any of their originality. A must have!

Even if you aren't a diehard 10,000 Maniacs fan, I think you will still appreciate this single. I love every song on this single and I must of played it hundreds of times (easy to do when there are only 4 tracks). I don't have a favorite song from this CD, but I have never seen the cover Sally Ann on any other single or album like I have with the other songs. I'm not sure why because I think Sally Ann is just as good as the other tracks.
