I have always been a Donny Hathaway fan. "To Be Young, Gifted and Black" is a song with a message of pride. It speaks to the soul and is a message of hope, particularly for the young people! "Someday We'll All be Free" is a song that reminds us that today is better than yesterday, but tomorrow holds even more promise. "A Song For You" is a love song of great proportions. When listening to Donny's songs, especially the songs I have just mentioned, I find myself singing along with the music. I have studied voice and piano, so I have strong credentials. Good collection volume

Listening to this album, which I purchased with Donny's live album, I find that the studio recordings are great archival material but do not quite capture the magic he grenerated live. The album contains many songs that are not on the live album and is a great addition to help round out my collection. My advice, however, is to get the Live album performances as well. Go figure, Donnie sings about ''This Christmas'', yet this is a gift for all seasons. Too bad it's been 3O years since he has given us any gifts. This Don gives us an offer we don't want to refuse. June 30, 2008

This is a great compilation from an all time musical genius. If for nothing, get this album because you do not hear music like this anymore and definitely not this good. May 9, 2008

I repeat, simply awesome cd from begaining to end ... his smooth voice his smooth sound's the late great DH blew this one out the water
who ever enjoy's ture smooth great music i recommend you buy this cd
"This Christmas" is worth the cd along but you get so so so much more god bless you
