adding my 2 cents worth: this is a stunning, fabulous and brilliant album. it's like the new millennium version of: "if I could only remember my name"
the sister-album.
hand-in-hand.
a book-end.
what a incredible band.
Jeff Pevar's guitar playing is stunning.
Crosby's voice is powerful and beautiful.
the harmonies tight and melodious.
new songs, old songs dressed up in new arrangements: a totally satisfying brew of hot blooded soul catching tunes.
I started off listening to "Cowboy Movie" 1st. thinking: "if they pull this off, they are onto something"...well they more than passed my arms folded gruff expectations...then I heard: almost cut my hair". I was sold...
listening to the new songs threw me happily over the edge...enough to write this review (which I rarely)...
Have I convinced you? that is my purpose... April 17, 2008

Very simply, this is one of my favorite albums. Despite the 1-star review below complaining about Crosby's "gruffness", I feel his singing here is easily as good as it ever was; and that is perfection. The old tunes are different enough from the original recordings to be enjoyed all over again, and new track "Rusty and Blue" is great. Crosby is a unique pop artist, and there is an authenticity and intelligence about his work that I feel myself particularly drawn to, never more than here. June 29, 2006

This is a fantastic live recording, one of the best I have heard in years. David Crosby assembled an exceptional group of musicians, especially the lead guitar, keyboard player, bass player and as always great lead vocals from David. There is a nice mix of old and new tunes. Good vocals on several songs from
Graham Nash and others. The result is one great recording.
Get a copy of this as soon as possible, you will not be disappointed. March 23, 2005

I have no clue what is wrong with the reviewer who gave this 1 star. They obviously need their ears checked for signs of deafness. Great guitar work from Jeff Pevar and David's vocals sound just as good as when he was 20 years younger. Surprise guests include Chris Robinson and Graham Nash! I put this entire CD on my iPod and have listened to it many times over.
If you like David Crosby's music, you won't be disappointed with the songs or the sound quality. June 12, 2004

The title of this CD should have been "David Crosby meets Big Mama Thornton".

The "gruff" vocal techinque (for lack of a better term) that David Crosby employs in this recording completely ruins what could have been some fine live interpretations of some of his greatest music.

For those of you who love the sweetness and subtlety of David Crosby's voice, you're not going to find it here. I was deeply disappointed upon listening to this recording.

Crosby's work on his 1971 masterpiece "If I Could Only Remember My Name" will forever remain the pinnacle of his solo output, much like Ian McDonald & Michael Giles' "McDonald & Giles" and Chris Squire's "Fish Out Of Water".

It is very difficult, if not impossible, to surpass perfection. And "If I Could Only Remember My Name" was exactly that - perfection. February 2, 2004
