About Various Artists - Feeling Minnesota (1996 Film)

Race past the pitiful remake of "Ring of Fire" by Bob Dylan (or is that Adam Sandler?) and you'll find a tasty set, highlighted by Joe Henry, Los Lobos, vintage Nancy Sinatra, a Sly Stone cover by Spearhead ("Family Affair"), classic Temptations funk ("Shakey Ground") and glorious Replacements junk ("I Will Dare"). --Jeff Bateman Amazon.com

This was such a Tarentino-esque flick that I wasn't surprised at the outstanding use of new covers of oldies. This sound track re-creates the atmosphere of the movie every time I hear it, which is what a soundtrack is supposed to do. And as for the Dylan cover of Ring of Fire, he's always been out there on the edge, and it isn't always easy to listen to him. But it's almost always worthwhile. April 6, 2005

OK, so the "Ring of Fire" remake by Dylan takes a while to get used to... (I assume, I'm still wincing through it when I don't skip it altogether). But the rest of this CD is absolutely fantastic, eclectic, and just plain fun to listen to. Definately one I will be making a car copy of, and enjoying on my commutes or road trips. January 1, 2004

I happened upon this by chance but I know now it happened for a reason; this music is a part of me. If you listen to it, I think you will see it is a part of you too!

This CD is real life- not glamourized in any way. Take Bob Dylan for example. Frank Sinatra he is not, but he is so special and REAL that he makes an incredible, eccentric singer just because he DARES TO BE DIFFERENT! He doesn't fit the mold. That is why he is so AWESOME!

I just love the way each song complements the others. The total is a collection with attitude, style, passion, sentimentality, romance and reminiscing. It makes me want to kick back with no worries, and have fun! Put it in and go for a long drive with the tops out of your car and see how great you'll feel! ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

The second I heard "Safe with Me" by Joe Henry, I knew I was buying the CD. It really touches my heart in a way no other song does. I love all the songs but my favorites are:

1) SAFE WITH ME 2) RING OF FIRE 3) LOOKING AT THE WORLD THROUGH A WINDSHIELD 4) HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU DARLIN'? 5) SHAKEY GROUND 6)YOU CAN HAVE HER 7) I WILL DARE 8) IN MY MIND

Those are my top favorites but I love each song! I HIGHLY recommend this CD to everyone: every gender, race, age, and background- it is universal music! May 22, 2000
