THIS IS A GREAT RECORDING, EXCEPT THE COPY I GOT FROM AMAZON SOUNDS LIKE A CRACKLING RECORD ALBUM WHEN I PLAY IT. IT MUST HAVE BEEN BOOTLEGGED FROM AN ALBUM ONTO A CD. I SHOULD SEND THIS IN TO THE RECORD COMPANY ALONG WITH MY BOOTLEG COPY OF DREAM EVIL WHICH IS ALSO A POOR ATTEMPT AT BOOTLEGGING A COPY AND SEE WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT THEM. October 13, 2008

This was the last album featuring the original lineup and started the decline of Dio's solo material. I have to say the commercialism of this album doesn't bother me as much as most people. There are a lot of pretty good songs but not really any classics on here. Vivian Campbell is being pushed in the background on this one as Dio's electing to use more keyboards, I guess to get that "Rainbow in the Dark" hit, making the album not as heavy as the first two. My main issue with this album is the horrible high treble mix that was prevalent at the time. Maiden's "Piece of Mind" also suffered from this. I would love to have this record remixed at some point to correct this. September 7, 2008

Dio's last album with Vivian Campbell. Great vocals but just terrible lyrics and the guitar work just doesn't measure up. This is where Dio's mystery lyrics get just downright annoying: meaningless and generic. 'Last In Line' is the last good album Dio made: avoid 'Sacred Heart' and everything released afterwards as it just doesn't measure up in music and the 'magic' lyrics just get cheesier and cheesier. Dio's best stuff is with Sabbath and Rainbow really. He also did two great tracks with Kerry Livgren on 'Seeds of Change': 'Living for the King' and 'Mask of the Great Deceiver.' That's something you wont hear anywhere else, Dio singing Christian rock! April 7, 2008

Every time I listen to this CD, the only thing that comes to mind is "Hair band"
Mr. Dio offers up disposable pop metal here. He is best at brooding, dark, mystical & occult stuff none of which is found on this CD. I give him credit for trying something new, but something new doesn't translate into something good. There are no real stand out tracks. Most sound like "filler" or discards from his previous sessions.
You are not missing anything by skipping this CD

Sacred Heart. One of the most underated albums he's ever released. Includes "Hungry For Heaven" featured in the movie "Vision Quest", rocks!
If you are a fan of Dio, you have to check this one out. October 2, 2007
