Almost any CD from this gifted singer, is a delight for your ears! "L Is For Lover", not being one of his best, is certainly an excellent addition to your Male Jazz/Pop singers collection. I don't know exactly why there is now a "shortage" of Al Jarreau's CDs in the market (perhaps it is due to that usually stupid fight between record companies for copyrights &/or royalties), but if you have the chance to get it, do it right now! (I had to buy mine as a used one -a German issue, the sound quality is outstanding!).
October 31, 2006I have had this CD for a while but its like I am just rediscovering it all over again. This is the perfect collection for a jazz enthusiast and even those who are not. Ilove every tract but the ones that I play to 'death' are "Tell Me What I gotta do" "L is for Lover", "Pleasure" "Golden Girl" and "We got Telepathy". The rest I play over and over. (lol)
June 23, 2004"Hearts Horizon" is my favorite Al Jarreau cd, but this is my second. Each one of it's 10 amazing tracks, are worth listening to.
1. Tell Me What I Gotta Do - 10/10 Very catchy. The rhymes, for this song are not as creative as in others, but it is still one of my favorites. The up beat melody, is sure to get you interested. 4:00/ Track 2. L is For Lover - 10/10 My favorite! The chorus is simple, but wonderful. After listening to this song a few times, I'm sure you'll start to sing along! "Maybe she's looking for you in London, L is for Lover" is just part of the catchy chorus. The beat is great too. 5:25 /Track 3. Says - 8.5/10 I like the beat, but the chorus repeats too much. It's not a bad song, just a track you don't want to put on repeat. One of the chorus' is in French. 3:51 /Track 4. Pleasure - 9.5/10 Another great beat. Like track 1 and 2, it's fast moving. This track has a different feel to it, compared to the other tracks on the album. 4:00 /Track 5. Golden Girl - 9.5/10 The first real ballad on the album. It's also the longest track. Although, it's not written by Jarreau, he sings it with real emotion. And makes it his own. Very pretty song. 5:50 /Track 6. Across The Midnight Sky - 10/10 Another ballad. This time it is written by Jarreau. I gave this one a 10, instead of a 9.5 like "Goledn Girl", cause it shows off his voice off more. 5:35 /7. "(We Got) Telepathy" - 10/10 After to ballads, he returns to a fast beat songs, and a good one at that. This is another favorite track of mine. The chorus is great, and so are the lryic's. 4:27 /Track 8. "Give A Little More Lovin'" - 8.5/10 The lryic's are a little boring. And don't have the same feelin' as the rest of the lryic's he usually sings about. It's all right, but I sometimes skip right over it. 5:12 /Track 9. "No Oridinary Romance" - 9.5/10 This one is more like a Al Jarreau track. It is a great song, with a good beat. /Track 10. "Real Tight" - 10/10 It's a little strange to see a fast beat, song at the end of one of his cd's, cause normally a slow one ends them. But it's a great song. It causes the cd to end very quickly, but it goes out on a high note. This is another one of my favorites. June 8, 2003
Wow what a great album, the geniuses of Al Jarreau and Nile Rodgers combined. One of my favorite Jarreau albums. Crisp digital recording and great contribution of tunes and musicians.
They both knew what they wanted to accomplish and they did it. Don't know why Al mildy bashed this album on Radioscope 2 years later when he released Heart's Horizon. This album is obviously one of the highlights of his career and still remembered after 17 years.

I really enjoyed the cd. I heard it for the first time when I was in France many years ago.The music is soothing and catchy at the same time.It draws you in with its tales of love and romance.A beautiful selection of music.I would recommend it to anyone. This cd is hard to find in the stores ,it is always sold out even after all these years.
