yes, prince released this album only after the "defunked" black album was pulled, and then subsequently re-released. this album is perhaps prince's most perfect album...the black album being a close second...listen to them both back to back...but to say that one is better than the other is crazy. what did he release just after the whole lovesexy/black album "thing"?...."batman"...he played batman, gemini, joker, and other characters in that morality play of light and dark...prince is "the man" displaying the best and worst in human nature in the same mirror...pick any prince album, listen to it alone with your subconscious, and make your own evaluations...every album and every experience is different. peace. This is one of my fave Prince albums. The picture and artwork is arguably his best album cover in my oppinion. I loved his style the most during this period. It was strange, surreal and bordering on drag queen. This album was an intense "spiritual journey" that Prince was riding. I was still in high school and has no clue what was going on with Prince at the time, I just wanted to hear the music. I was most excited when purchasing this particular album, because my Prince obsession had peaked during this time and I cannot describe the fascination over the material and concept of "Lovesexy". It intorduced me to new sounds and emotions I had never felt at the tender age of 17. Now I understand more the reason he pulled "The Black Album" and replaced it with "Lovesexy". I remember being so confused and a bit agry why Prince deprived us from a new album that he seemed to regret making. Like I said, I just wanted to hear the music. It was a calculated move and Prince always knows best in most cases. Even though his decisions seem bizarre to us common folk, later on you see the light and it magically comes together. "The Black Album" sounded good way back then, but if you listen and compare the 2 together now, you see the glaring differences. "Lovesexy" is of course more "positive", the lyrics are more about God and love. It was also engineered better and more time was spent on each song. "The Black Album" seems more of a concept album, sort of thrown together, who knows if it was ever really meant to be released, it could have all been a publicity stunt for all we know. But what "eye no" is, "Lovesexy" shines as a brilliant Prince album that made an indelible print in my heart and soul during that time. "Anna Stasia" is still one of my all time Prince faves. I also love "Lovesexy" and "Positivity". Prince was so creative back then, it seems like he spent alot of time and energy on this album. The only complaint I have with this album and it's a major one, I so wish they would release it with individual tracks! When I make Prince compilations for friends, I can never use this cd to extract songs from and it stinks man. The mysteries of Prince, what can u do, right? February 1, 2008

Normally I would be upset about not being able to select a track on an album but Prince makes that a non issue with his brilliance and passion for music! August 11, 2007

Prince begins an era in R&B and popular music. Although Prince's commerical success with the New Power Generation pales in comparison to his success with the Revolution, NPG created music in my opinion the Revolution could not touch.

Prince brought music into rare form. Prince's sound with this album completely changed. Adding more bass, synths, and much more creative funk sounds.

The album is one track at 45 minutes long, I'm guessing because Prince wanted listeners to listen to the entire album straight through. But this album doesnt need that. It is a great album that had a great tour to back it up.

NPG started off a good foot with LoveSexy and Prince hasn't looked back since. July 11, 2007

LoveSexy is my fave Prince album of all time. And definitely in the top 5 best Prince albums of all time. I have worn out this album on cassette, vinyl and cd. I am so glad for MP3's now. AnnaStesia is my fave Prince song all time, GlamSlam is incredible and Positivity always puts me in a great mood. I Wish U Heaven is great both lyrically as well as musically. Love is God--God is Love. Girl and Boys Love God Above. A must for any True Prince Fanatic.
