Mudhoney's ep "Five Dollar Bob's Mock Cooter Stew" has something different about it than the rest of Mudhoney's records (then again...each has their own unique attitude). From a nice acoustic guitar riff to hard-n-heavy distortion to weird sci-fi noises...."Five Dollar Bob's.." has quite a bit for a 7-song ep.

"In the Blood"- mellow and flowing - a pleasant opening track with a tie-in to track two..

3 out of 5 stars

"No Song III"- starting out with a spooky sci-fi feel, it quickly turns into a dark, fast-paced joyride. (there is a song three though..)

5 out of 5 stars

"Between Me & You Kid"- quite a variety on this ep of theirs. definately catchy, definately bluesy. 'the only thing between me and hell is the floor'

4 out of 5 stars

"Six Two One"- starts up at full-throttle and fuzzed as all get out. another quality track with a mind of it's own. gotta love the "solo"

4 out of 5 stars

"Make It Now Again"- for those of you that loved "Make it Now" off of "Piece of Cake"...you will love this version!! it's darker, it's heavier, it's better!!!!

5 out of 5 stars!!

"Deception Pass"- after that last track...it's kind of hard to regain balance, but the band pulls it off somewhat in with track. dark? yes. and ya got those nifty hand claps in the chrous.

3 out of 5 stars

"Underide"- i swear they stole the main guitar riff from Joy Division's "Wilderness" off of "Unknown Pleasures"!!! oh well...it's a fun "song". no...it's more like a narrative with background music...or..could it be an instrumental with background vocals? anyway...it's cool.

4 out of 5 stars

so there ya have it...MY opinion of Mudhoney's mighty ep. If you've ever been interested in buying this and have the spare cash (eight or nine bucks lyin' around)..get it. For those of you with the "Suck You Dry" cd maxi-single...it's still worth it.
