About Enya - The Celts
Born Eithne Ni Bhraonain, this classically-trained pianist was kid sister in the musical family that became Clannad, joining the Irish band in 1979 but dropping out amicably three years later to pursue her own muse. This music, produced in the mid-'80s as the soundtrack to a BBC series, was released as her debut in 1987 and promptly ignored--yet its mix of atmospheric soundscapes and Enya's lush, layered vocals, sung in both English and Gaelic, is the template for her subsequent global hits, beginning with Watermark the following year. --Sam Sutherland Amazon.com

Haunting,atmospheric,melodic and very memorable.
What a great start to a career that has been stale since Shepard Moons.
A must have for music fans regardless of genre.
June 12, 2008The Celts is haunting and beautiful. Enya captures the history and mystery of ancient Ireland in a most ear pleasing manner. I would recommend this album to anyone desiring a mood lift.
March 18, 2008Something about the sound from this singer/songwriter that just gets to you. This was originally written for a series.I have never seen that series, but you can tell that the music would help it to be interesting. There is only one song i dont like much, and thats the second song Aldebaran.I like the rest of the CD though, with some stand outs.Funny thing is i dont know the name of most of her songs till i look them up.So i have actually got to play a bit of the song,so i know which songs match the names. So that just shows you, especially with the first 2 albums that you can just play the whole thing, and sort of drift away with it.I think this is slightly my favorite of the 2.My favorites are The Celts,March Of The Celts,Fairytail,Epona,Triad,Portrait,Boadicea,Bard Dance,Dan Y Dwr is also excellent, well thats just about the whole CD.I want Tomorrow and To Go Beyond 1 + 2 are great as well.So i havnt miss out on much,i try to pick my absolute favorites, but thats realy hard, because the songs like build up to something and flow into each other so well, and they realy are great to listen to.
February 5, 2008Loved this CD. Can't get enough Enya. I own every CD out thus far. The tones, soothing rythyms all are enchanting. Even the dark images and vibes brought to mind in her chants offer a perspective of music I never realized could be so entertaining. Those who have never listened to Enya have missed an appreciation of a beautiful music style.
September 6, 2007I love Enya's music. I find her music very soothing to relax to especially after spending 8 hours at the office and listening to mostly gothic and industrial music on my iPod. Listening to Enya's music help takes that edge off. My personal favorite Enya cd is THE CELTS. I still own the cassette version of this album back when it was only known as ENYA. While I do like Enya's other albums, none of them match the beauty of THE CELTS. I can listen to this cd without a skipping a single track. I personally think the songs flows well together. It is hard for me to pick out a favorite song. I will say that the standout tracks on the cd includes the title track, "March of the Celts", and "Boadicea". After a decade plus some years, THE CELTS somehow manages to sound fresh to me as the first time I listened to my cassette version in the car.
