it was so good to finally get this cd. I've been wanting it for a long time and the time is finally here !
October 9, 2008hi, unfortunately this CD never made its way to me. i think the post office put it in someone else's post office box by error; this has happened before, and i've also received in my p.o. box packages for other patrons.
i was really looking forward to listening to phoebe again, but don't feel like buying the CD twice in order to get to listen. bummer.
September 5, 2008I didn't read all the previous reviews, but was not surprised to see that every single reviewer rated this collection of music five star. I was surprised, however, to find that all the reviews are very short. I think these songs touch our hearts and leave us speechless. The songs are amazing and still relevant over 30 years later. Am I that old?!?! Pure perfection, not a single misstep. How can music be this beautiful? I'm certain it has a lot to do with Phoebe Snow. Thank you, Phoebe, for this treasure.
September 3, 2008When I listen to "Poetry Man", and if I close my eyes, I'm sitting in the shade of an old Elm tree and it's a breezy summer day in 1974. I listened to this album until I dreamed it. I love the simplicity of the lyrics, her phrasing, her range, her voice. One of my favorite tracks is Easy Street - the lyrics are superb and the voice full of pathos. This is one of the truly great albums by one of the truly great singers of the 20th century.
June 25, 2008I listened to this album over and over when i was in high school and I LOVED IT. I love it just as much now. The tracks are all very different, but they are all favorite-song quality. I've never been able to decide which is my favorite! There is an honest raw emotion that comes through in Ms. Snow's unique voice, combined with jazzy folk to rocking jazz melodies. Phoebe sounds like no one else, and she takes you around the world from melancholy, contemplative, humorous, to rocking and rolling. There's a little bit of everything here. It's a must-have classic!
