About Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton - Once upon a Christmas

Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, two of country's most loved (or least liked, depending on how you look at them) stars join forces for a Christmas album that is surprisingly fluff free. There are the usual suspects here--a cozy "Winter Wonderland," a somber "Silent Night"--plus some touching curiosities, like "The Greatest Gift of All" and the title track. Of course there are the required romantic numbers since this is a duet album, but they're not as gratuitous as one might fear. Dolly does a fine job of keeping the yee-haw factor to a minimum, and Kenny doesn't try to compete with her on the singer-as-storyteller front. All in all their voices complement each other quite well, and the arrangements are first rate. Here's one holiday collection that might win a few converts. --Steve Gdula Amazon.com

Love the music, but know for sure it is a burned cd because when I downloaded it into iTunes, I had to write in all the songs. Also, the case was cracked in 2 spots and was not sealed. The price tag was also half on as well. At least it sounds good. December 16, 2008

This has been my favorite Christmas CD for the past several years. It isn't Christmas without it. My favorites are A Christmas to Remember and The Greatest Gift of All. I was lucky enough to find someone on ebay that had the TV special put on a DVD. Every year at Christmas the CD and DVD come out and I enjoy this yet again. WHY they never marketed the TV special on VHS or DVD is beyond me because it's one of my absolute favorites! November 19, 2008
