Lightning Strikes Again.

Classic sing-a-long in the shower, or in the car, stuff. His five major hits are there, plus others for the afficiando. Although the CD doesn't say "remastered" on it, the sound quality is just whay you'd expect from a CD...versus vinyl LP sound. July 1, 2008

three or four good tunes

The problem with these compilations is that you get 3 or 4 terific tunes, and the rest is hardly worth listening to. This Cd is no exception. It's tough to be critical when you know you love a performer's work. I dig the good stuff Lou Christie has done: The Gypsie Cried, Two Faces Have I, Lightnin' Strikes, Rhapsody In the Rain...but the rest? Well, it's filler.

What can you do?
We're grateful for the few hits that Mr. Christie has given us over the years.
I don't regret buying this album, after all.

Lou Cristie is good

I was not around when this was out , but hearing his work on a tv spotlight show of this type of music made me buy it. Good music, fun songs, and strong vocals. If you love that era, or just want to have something besides scream music, check this out.

Needs an Overhaul

This CD is nearly 20 years old now, so the sound needs to be upgraded. The sound quality on the new RPM CDs is much richer and sharper, with more bass. Also, this CD omits many of his best A-sides, such as "She Sold Me Magic", "Beyond The Blue Horizon", "Cryin' On My Knees", and "Guitars and Bongos", while including mediocre B-sides such as "Mr. Tenor Man" and "Du Ronda". For some reason, Rhino stopped at 1969 even though Lou has kept making great music since then, and they did not license any of the excellent Colpix material from 1964-65. Also, the songs are presented in chronological order, except that the hippie anthem "Self Expression" from 1967 is thrown in with the 1963 tracks, where it sounds totally out of place.
In sum, this is still a good purchase, and the best place to begin a Lou Christie collection, but it could be made much better. I would recommend getting other Lou Christie CDs and making your own Best of CD.
