Everyone knows Iggy did this record while on leave from a mental institution. It's not a great record, but has some good songs (Kill City, Johanna, a few others). If you're on the fence about it, pick it up if you have all the Stooges stuff and good Iggy solo records (there aren't too many). If you're just starting out, you can live without this for awhile.

It's a shame they never recorded all those great lost Stooges songs in a real studio (Head On, She Creatures, etc).

Check out Mighty High...In Drug City. June 20, 2008

Originally released in 1977. Took me awhile to finally get around to landing down a copy of this CD, which I assumed it was Iggy's very first solo record. Guess it's actually a collaboration between Iggy and former Stooges guitarist James Williamson. Was definitely worth the wait. Tracks I thought made the grade were the *ss-kicking title cut "Kill City", "I Got Nothin'", the classic "Johanna", "Consolation Prizes" and "Lucky Monkeys". Line-up: Iggy-vocals, James Williamson-guitar, Scott Thurston-bass, keyboards & harmonica and Brian Glascock (Motels)-drums. A should-have. January 1, 2008

~ I'm sick of keeping quiet, and I am the wild boy,
If I'm gonna die here, first I'm gonna make some noise...~

Anyone who can write lyrics like this, is ok with me. Iggy, Iggy, Iggy. It's easy to bash this cd, you know, the production values aren't great. But LISTEN TO IT!! Considering he was on "sick leave" from the mental ward, his voice is great. Johanna rates as one of the all-time best "love songs" along with "sell your love." It's Iggy down on the street, and bruising, but no one does it better than he does, IMHO.
I am a huge Iggy fan, and I've followed him around for 20 years. It's not mere *love * it's an addiction. And it hasn't killed me yet. I have ALL his albums- and this is one of my stand-out favourites. great Sunday morning music. Don't give up on it. Give it a listen, and you will understand why he's one of the masters of the underground. He was there, before you were a gleam in your mama's eyes!!

*peace* Diane. March 2, 2002
