User Reviews
Average user review:If you are an Air fan like I am and have followed them consistently over the years and have seen them several times live... then I'm sure you already have purchased this item. If you are a new fan you can get just the actual record. If you know Air today it is because of Moon Safari... That's all! May 14, 2008
Five stars
This band is simply great. It's got lot of interesting sounds that will take you on to different feelings as you listen to them. I could listen to the track "All I Need" all day long. The whole CD is soothing in a happy kind of way, kinda makes you feel "well, life is pretty darn good after all" April 25, 2008
GREAT ALBUM
Every song on this album felt so familiar. Definitely a recommendation for those who are into new wave music. Down tempo music, each song very different from the other, and great vocals. Creative album indeed. February 21, 2008
Not that great
Moon Safari gets a bit of praise and claim to be the best Air album. I honestly cannot tell why. There is only two or three songs on here worth listening to and one is basically a continuation of the other.
"La femme d'argent" - a fantastic track. Its the only song on this cd worth listening to.
"Sexy Boy" - a terrible, horrible, disgusting track. Every time it starts I hit the Next button. I can't stand this song.
"All I Need" - bores me to tears.
"Kelly Watch The Stars" - tries to be a good song but doesn't quite make it.
"Talisman" - This one is more a "La femme d'argent" part 2 so its good as well.
"Remember" - This one tries to be good too. Its slightly better than "Kelly Watch The Stars"
"You Make It Easy" - another continuation. This time it's "All I Need" part 2. Still bores me to tears.
"Ce matin-là" - On the level of "Kelly Watch The Stars."
"New Star In The Sky" - listen to this on as well. Its very good.
"Le voyage de Penelope" - On the level of "Remember"
I would recommend Talkie Walkie over this album. It doesn't take as many chances musically as this album does, but it also succeeds a lot more and makes for a more pleasing experience. If you like Zero 7 (and apparently many of the people looking at this album do) then you will enjoy Talkie Walkie a bit more than this album February 3, 2008
Like a Breath of Fresh Air.
"Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.
Leave, don't leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground." ("Breathe," Pink Floyd)
Detached, hypnotic, and retro (much like Pink Floyd's song "Breathe" from the Dark Side Of The Moon--and yet not Pink Floyd) is how I would describe the sound of this CD. Released in 1988, Moon Safari is the first release from the Île-de-France electronica duo Air, consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. (The name "Air" is an acronym for Amour, Imagination, Rêve.) Not only is Air's music a chillout blend of Love, Imagination, and Dreams, but it is a light blend of psychedelic musical influences (including Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and Jean Michel Jarre). Standout Moon Safari tracks include "Sexy Boy," "Kelly Watch the Stars," and "All I Need." (Yes, you've heard the song "La Femme D'argent" in a L'Oreal Paris ad, the song "Sexy Boy" in the TV series Queer as Folk, and the song "All I Need" in the TV series Felicity.) The complete album setlist includes:
1. La Femme D'argent (7:11)
2. Sexy Boy (4:58)
3. All I Need (4:28)
4. Kelly Watch The Stars (3:45)
5. Talisman (4:16)
6. Remember (2:34)
7. You Make It Easy (4:00)
8. Ce Matin Là (3:39)
9. New Star In The Sky (5:40)
10. Le Voyage De Pénélope (3:10)
