"Greater Need" is a first-rate country album that kicks off in style with "Soldier of Love", one of several up-tempo tracks featured on this impressive CD. In general, the other songs are either good or outstanding and strong melodically.

The quality of musicianship is also high. For instance, Dan Huff provides several short but appealing guitar solos. Moreover, the album is well produced.

Above all, Lorrie's vocals enhance "Greater Need". She has a good voice and can interpret lyrics very well. This is especially true of the slower, reflective tracks such as "I Can Buy My Own Roses", "Greater Need", "Back Among The Living" and "Good As I Was To You". It is also true of "By My Side", a superb duet with Jon Randall and one of the best duets I have ever heard.

"Greater Need" ranks among my favourite albums (which include material by Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Martina McBride and Patty Loveless) and will no doubt be enjoyed by anyone who loves first-class country songs well performed. December 15, 2005

This is one of my favorites from Lorrie Morgan. She has an amazing voice that is very distinct, and you can tell she is really in these songs. She brings out so much emotion to whatever the songs call her to. I really like the sentimental ballad "I Can Buy My Own Roses". The title track is another great ballad too. But who could forget "Good As I Was To You". This is classic Lorrie, a song where she finds out her lover is seeing someone else and confronts them. The video was unforgettable with her confronting them in the restaurant, watching them from the rainy window. There's a nice duet with her then-husband Jon Randall on "By My Side" which was the other hit from the album. Other highlights include "Soldier Of Love", "I Just Might Be", "Reading My Heart", "Back Among The Living" and "She Walked Beside The Wagon". Check it out! April 26, 2004

Lorrie Morgan's album GREATER NEED is great indeed, it has some of the most memorable songs from her entire career. Take the popular single "Good As I Was To You" - a tragic tale about a man cheating on his lover, with another woman. Lorrie delivers this song with enough emotion that it sends chills up your spine. Or the popular duet with then husband Jon Randall, on "By My Side", which is a beautiful love song. Other great songs include the lead song "Soldier of Love", which is a song which Lorrie seems to sink her teeth into. Or the beautiful title track, which deserved to be a single. Other highlights include "Steppin Stones" (with Vince Gill and Travis Tritt), "I Can Buy My Own Roses" and more! Give this one a try, its a great album by a talented, underrated country singer! Greater Need is probably my favorite Lorrie Morgan album. There are some great songs here. Soldier of Love is a great album starter, would of made a great single for country radio. I Just Might Be is a little tough, but its a nice song. Greater Need is a beautiful ballad, one you will love as it comes from Lorrie's heart. Steppin Stones is a really upbeat country tune with Travis Tritt and Vince Gill singing on it as well, they really kick it up. By My Side is a nice duet with her then husband Jon Randall. Good as I Was to You was the big hit from this album, along with By My Side, she sings it like no one else could. She Walked Beside The Wagon just touches your heart like no other song could, Lorrie brings that magic touch to the songs with her golden voice. A must have. May 9, 2001
