I wasn't sure I'd like this. Don't get me wrong, I was a fan of Andy's when I was all of 11 years old, but I liked the hits and wasn't familiar with the rest.
I purchased this cd because I loved the song Shadow Dancing. For that song alone, this CD is worth the money. I was pleased to find that the song is as good today as I thought it was then. When I think about that, I am surprised because I have heard so much more other music over the years, but this still stands out, and I can see why it was a hit.
As for his other songs, I really enjoy them. Some of the 70s instrumentation is a little annoying, but just when you think it's going to be all bubblegum, Andy starts singing and you know it's far from that. Some of the songs come off quite moody to me and even a little dark. He was complex and talented and, like his brothers, knew the emotional impact of music. He also has some great hooks and his harmonies are impressive. It easy to see he is a Gibb brother.
It's tragic that he died so young when he had such a gift. I wonder what else he would have accomplished and what more gems he would have given us.
March 25, 2008this cd is the ideal mr. gibb work of art so much emotion and pain in these beautifully sung songs andy gibb may have been brother to the bee gees but he sits very much in a category of his own for those of you who do not own any of andys cd's this will be the best choice you make start of with shadow dancing you will be more than satisfied with your purchase then if you buy flowing rivers the songs that standout are i just want to be your everything, love is thicker than water, and in the end flowing rivers has more of a country flow to it but still good and very mellow after dark the last cd of andy's career is nice and there are some songs like warm ride, i can't help it, one of two duets with olivia newton john desire is sensual track overall a very nice cd to own as all of us fans of andy buy all of his cd's he's a delight to listen too you better get shadow dancing quick there are less than ten on this great site!
December 12, 2006Andy and specially this record are great.At his best.He do I come back to my teens years.I own all about him & his brothers.Also on Lp' now on Cd and this is one of the cd's I play more....and I've a lot.Andy is on his best and if you buy it, be sure you'd like to have it closer for any time....all songs are great.give all stars you want.this is a Must for any lover of this style of music.A fan from Spain. We miss you Andy
November 16, 2006Not as good as "The Record" & Andy Gibb's -"Andy Gibb". Yet, it does hold good songs of Gibb's. I wish he didn't die so soon.
November 10, 2006i love andy i only wish that there were maybe hidden songs that barry would realease. i have the only three albums andy did i had to buy three of shadow dancing becaus i wore them out. he is always in my heart. ilove andy and barry.
