This album is a true parade of the best themes of this inspired composer. Through a set of well known artists such as Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz, we will enjoy the lovable candor and warmth of this legendary figure of the Brazilian song.
There is not minor track. Each one to its own possesses the magic flame of that kaleidoscopic land of myths and legends.

Corcovado, Agua de beber, Aguas de Marco, Insensatez, Favela, So danco samba are by far, the most attractive titles. A winner album wherever you analyze it. Go for this album.

great compliation of Jobim music on Verve Records label. Every song is a winner (with the possible exception of "Fascinatin' Rhythm", which is a song I associate with Fred Astaire and is not really bossanova). For a pretty good overview you should also get the Verve compilation releases of Astrid Gilberto and Stan Getz and you'll be set. September 15, 2005

Before "Smooth Jazz" there was smooth music. There is a difference. Smooth Jazz is the commercial breakthrough by artists into the business of putting out there work. I'm not knocking it, it's business. Smooth [mellow] music, was never considered a genre, but the rather a music which rendered a mellow feeling. Buttery, succulent, soft like the human touch. Antonio Carlos Jobim's work is smooth like that. His vibe is very mellow, full of LOVE. Very sensative, lush, rich and earthy. Check out the sound bite's and hear for yourself. Of course...the Verve label is a qualifying endorsment in itself. I certainly enjoy this release. April 13, 2004

Words aren't enough to describe this album. It's an album that is an experience. Each and every song affects the emotions and soul. There are instrumentals as well as vocals, making this a great album with a mix of different Jobim styles. There's even a Gershwin tune thrown in for good measure, the only non-Jobim song on here. The booklet contains informative liner notes about Jobim, as well as notes on a few of the songs. This is a must-have for Jobim and/or bossa nova fans. August 24, 2001

I saw Black Orpheus years ago and fell in love with the soundtrack. Now I have music similar to the soundtrack on this CD and I can just let it repeat itself for hours. It's so smoothly sensual that you won't ever want it to end. July 17, 2001
